One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest

My primary source is…One Flew over the Cuckoo’s Nest
The purpose of my paper is to discuss the…
1. Symbolism( fog, time, ect.)
2. The characters and their in depth stories
3. Setting(ward)
Of… my book during the 60’s
In order to show…why Kesey took a non-conformist stand when writing about these things in respect to the time period and how it relates to him life.
THESIS___
With the use of symbols, in depth characters, and a descriptive setting Ken Kesey takes a non-conformist approach to a 60's novel in a mental institution.

How do these in depth characters affect the story as a whole? Why does he use them and what is the purpose of the mental institution?

Your thesis is a great start. It states a clear purpose, yet it's broad enough to write a 10 page research paper of. But something seems missing. Maybe it's the so what factor, but just keep playing around with it 'cause it sounds really good so far :]

I think your thesis is a good start as well. I would make sure that you take into consideration exactly what these symbols and characters do the story as a whole. I like the one you showed me in class.

This is a good start, but i agree that the So what factor might be there. Your thesis is very clear, but maybe you can add something to the end of it, and say how or why Kesey takes that approach. That might get rid of the So what factor. Either way, your off to a great start!
