I think this thesis is a 5.
The appearances of the late Ben Loman whenever Willy dreams about success suggests that he represents the romantic illusions of glorious success in business that American society gives Willy and the dreams and values that Willy has ill-advisedly held for his whole adult life.
In the fantasy world, WIlly feels more hopeful and inspired, while reality helps him realize his limitations and problems, ultimately leading to his downfall.
-rhythm between fathers and sons, #3.
Willy's affair causes separation and a lack of communication between him and his son, Biff, which leads to Willy's suicide.
I read all three criticism, but will probably only be using "Family Values in Death of a Salesman."
So I revised my thesis to better answer the "so what" question and be less specific :]
Although Willy's decision to commit suicide results from a desire to support his family, the symbolic as well as realistic messages of ordinary objects also contribute to his ultimate end.
